Hiking & Mountain experience
Over 800 km of hiking trails open up a unique landscape between the Saualpe in the north and the Karawanks in the south. Summit seekers tackle the two-thousand-meter peaks of Hochobir, the summits of the Petzen massif, or the peaks of the Steiner Alps on the Slovenian border, either alone or accompanied by certified mountain guides. The ideal starting point in the Karawanks is the Bad Eisenkappel Hiking Competence Center in the Vellachtal region. The Petzen, located in the Karawanks Geopark, offers hiking options for the whole family – from short, leisurely trails for explorers of all ages to challenging routes. The following tour descriptions will help you plan an adventurous and unforgettable hike. For your safety, we recommend staying on the marked trails. To ensure we can continue to admire and enjoy our natural treasures in the future, we ask you to protect the alpine flora, treat nature with respect, and do not litter.
